I’ll put a spell on you – some of the best witches from movies and TV!

March 5, 2023 grimmfest

Ahead of our screening of THE CRAFT on Friday 10th March at Mini Cini (as part of a double bill with JENNIFER’S BODY, tickets are still available but going fast!) The Reaper is taking a look at some of the best witches from the worlds of movies and TV.

WITCHES OF EASTWICK

Cher, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfeiffer fall under the spell of devilish Jack Nicholson and then plot their revenge in George Miller’s 1987 film.

WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST

An all-timer, she’ll get you my pretty and your little dog too!

THE WITCHES

They wanna turn children into mice! Watch out for purple eyes, dodgy wigs and stubbed toes as Anjelica Huston devours the screen.

THE LOVE WITCH

Unlucky in love Elaine leaves a trial of dead men in her wake in Alice Biller’s trippy, sumptuous effort.

Nancy from THE CRAFT

She said “we are the weirdos, Mister” and make sure you don’t get on her wrong side!

THE WITCH

Black Phillip asked “wouldst thou like to live deliciously?” and who can say no to that?

SHE WILL

Genre legend Alice Krige gets long-awaited revenge on Malcolm McDowell in this one, which was a big hit at our recent Monsters and Movies event where we had Alice plus writer/director Charlotte Colbert in attendance!

SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH

With talking cat Salem by her side, Melissa Joan Hart juggled everyday teen problems and all those pesky witch lessons. Mytosis is…

TWO WITCHES

A standout hit at Grimmfest 2021, foetus soup anyone?

Willow from BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER

Alyson Hannigan went dark (literally) with this role, going off the deep end when Tara is shot and killed right in front of her.

SUSPIRIA

A dance school full of witches! Whether you go original or remake, the colours and sound are almost overwhelming.

THE BLAIR WITCH

From the breakout hit of 1999 through sequels, spin off books and games The Blair Witch remains an elusive figure who’s just waiting for poor souls to enter her woods.

THE WITCH IN THE WINDOW

This blew the roof off at Grimmfest 2018, with Lydia appearing in windows and generally creeping the hell out of us.
