The Reaper loves a good documentary, and some exciting ones are coming our way!
First up and already screening and available is HOLLYWOOD DREAMS & NIGHTMARES: THE ROBERT ENGLUND STORY which was shot over the course of two years, highlighting the life and career of the classically trained actor and director.
Featuring interviews with Robert Englund and his wife Nancy, as well as fellow genre icons Lin Shaye, Eli Roth, Kane Hodder, Tony Todd, Adam Green, Bill Moseley, Heather Langenkamp & more, the documentary follows Englund’s career from his early days in BUSTER AND BILLIE and STAY HUNGRY (with Arnie!) to his big break in the 1980s as Freddy Krueger to his directorial debut with the 1988 horror film 976-EVIL to his iconic acting status in current roles such as Netflix’s hit series “Stranger Things”.
Tim Burton‘s incredible career will be celebrated in an upcoming four-part documentary series, as reported by Deadline.
Interview subjects for the doc include Burton collaborators Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Jenna Ortega, composer Danny Elfman, Christopher Walken, Danny DeVito, Mia Wasikowska, and Christoph Waltz.
The docuseries is said to feature new interviews and never-before-seen footage.
A brand new documentary titled DINNER WITH LEATHERFACE, looks at the life, legacy, and career of the late horror icon Gunnar Hansen.
Release is scheduled for this October to coincide with the 50th anniversary theatrical release of THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE, which of course features Gunnar’s iconic, genre-defining role as Leatherface.
The doc will feature interviews with several of Hansen’s friends and colleagues, including fellow actors Bruce Campbell, Barbara Crampton, Kane Hodder, and Brian O’Halloran. The film will also include many in-depth interviews with his co-stars from CHAIN SAW, as well as the film’s cinematographer Daniel Pearl and screenwriter Kim Henkel.
