Back in 2018, THE NUN scared up a whopping £365 million at the worldwide box office, setting a still-standing record for The Conjuring Universe and all but ensuring that we hadn’t seen the last of the demonic nun known as Valak.
Now that pesky nun is back, with Michael Chaves (CURSE OF LA LLORONA, THE CONJURING: THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT) behind the camera for THE NUN II.
Due in September, the sequel stars Taissa Farmiga, Storm Reid, Bonnie Aarons, Anna Popplewell and Katelyn Rose Downey and the first plot synopsis reads “1956 – France. A priest is murdered. An evil is spreading. The sequel to the worldwide smash hit THE NUN follows SISTER IRENE as she once again comes face to face with the demonic force VALAK – THE DEMON NUN.”“
The first film ended with Sister Irene (Farmiga) and Maurice (Jonas Bloquet) escaping, only Maurice was now possessed by Valak.
Chaves recently told EW. “Maurice made his way to France and he’s working at this boarding school as kind of a handyman. He has a friendship and a flirtation with one of the teachers there, and you can see him starting to mature, so that’s where our characters start out. But we know from the first film that there’s something terrible inside of him, that Valak escaped within him, and events pull Irene back on this collision course with her old friend.”
