Directors returning to the big screen this year include Ryan Coogler with SINNERS, David Cronenberg with THE SHROUDS and Osgood Perkins follows last year’s LONGLEGS with gory Stephen King adaptation THE MONKEY.
Miles Teller and Anya-Taylor Joy are snipers on either side of THE GORGE, Ayo Edebiri and John Malkovich go head-to-head in OPUS and an amazing cast (Martin Freeman, Jenna Ortega, Richard E Grant, Will Poulter etc!) deal with the unnatural in DEATH OF A UNICORN.
Danny Boyle and Alex Garland are teaming up again to revive the franchise they started in 2002 with 28 YEARS LATER –
Christopher Landon (HAPPY DEATH DAY, FREAKY) is back with DROP where a woman on a first date has to follow mysterious orders, Jaume Collet-Sera shines a light on THE WOMAN IN THE YARD, Al Pacino and Dan Stevens face an exorcism in THE RITUAL and Adam Cesare’s hit novel CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD and videogame UNTIL DAWN are both getting big screen adaptations this year.
Maggie Gyllenhaal is in the director’s chair for THE BRIDE! starring Jesse Buckley as the eponymous creation and Edgar Wright is putting Glen Powell through the game of his life in THE RUNNING MAN.
New franchise entries this year include sequels to THE BLACK PHONE, INSIDIOUS, THANKSGIVING and FIVE NIGHT’S AT FREDDY’S as well as MEGAN 2.0, FINAL DESTINATION: BLOODLINES, PREDATOR: BADLANDS, THE CONJURING: LAST RITES and FEAR STREET: PROM QUEEN.
The Fisherman is back (has he got a better name?) in the untitled I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER legacy sequel, which sees Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr return to the series.
Paul Rudd and Jack Black star in a comedic take on ANACONDA and Guillermo Del Toro delivers his take on FRANKENSTEIN with Jacob Elordi as the Monster and also featuring Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth and Christoph Waltz.
Loads to get excited about this year and this is just scratching the surface!
