Did you know that the directors of Grimmfest, Simeon Halligan and Rachel Richardson Jones also make movies? SPLINTERED, WHITE SETTLERS and HABIT are some of their previous titles. They are currently working with Saul Davies from the internationally renowned Manchester band JAMES, to develop music for their next movie.
With international hits like SIT DOWN and LAID as well as more experimental work like the album WAH WAH, they are perfectly placed to compose music for films. The project will be spearheaded by JAMES guitarist Saul Davies and the band will create a unique soundscape for an exciting new movie.
Never one to rest on his laurels, Saul is also busy organising an inspiring charity gig, ‘Music Feeds Live: A Concert to Fight Food Poverty‘, which will take place on the 27th Feb 2024 at the Apollo in Manchester. Chart-topping musicians and performers are joining forces and voices to help fight food poverty in the North-West, with more than 10 artists performing and raising funds for foodbank charity The Trussell Trust.
Artists already confirmed include James’ Tim Booth, Jim Glennie and Saul, The Farm, Chicane, Slow Readers Club, Lanterns on the Lake, and British Poet Laureate Simon Armitage with his band LYR. Football legends Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher will host the event alongside Radio 6 Music presenter Chris Hawkins, while the acclaimed Joe Duddell Orchestra will collaborate with guest stars throughout the night.
A message from Saul: “We feel that it’s our obligation to show solidarity with people for whom visiting food banks is a desperate necessity. We are relatively fortunate and we have a voice so we want to use it, even in a small way, to help combat rising food poverty. Our initiative is blessed to have the support of amazing musicians and artists who are coming together to do this, so I hope that those that can, will join us on the 27th February 2024 at the O2 Apollo in Manchester, in aid of The Trussell Trust.”
And to cap that, they have just released a new single IS THIS LOVE with album YUMMY due for release on the 12th April !!!
