Did You Know… Tarantino almost wrote HALLOWEEN 6?

This is one of the most intriguing “what coulda been” things in this fabulous genre!

Back in 1994, with Quentin Tarantino in a post-RESERVOIR pre-PULP stage, Miramax offered him the chance to write HALLOWEEN 6.

The series had gone quiet since 1989’s HALLOWEEN 5, which infamously ends with the mysterious Man in Black shooting up a police station and freeing the imprisoned Michael Myers. Who is this guy? Why is he helping Michael?

1995 saw HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS hit screens and reveal that said Man in Black is Dr Wynn (from the original HALLOWEEN!) and there’s all the business with symbols, and druids, and stars etc.

But that’s not what Quentin had in mind, as he revealed his initial thoughts in a 2019 interview:

“Yeah, yeah, well, way before I’d ever done anything… it would have been if I had done it, I never got hired but it would have been my job to figure out who the guy in the boots is.”

“Yeah, I was like, ‘Leave that scene where [the Man in Black] shows up, alright, and frees Michael Myers.’ And so the only thing that I had in my mind, I still hadn’t figured out who that dude was, was like the first 20 minutes would have been the Lee Van Cleef dude and Michael Myers on the highway, on the road, and they stop at coffee shops and shit and wherever Michael Myers stops, he kills everybody. So, they’re like leaving a trail of bodies on Route 66.”

How crazy does this sound? A killer road trip with Michael Myers and the Man in Black? What would have happened after those 20 minutes? Would Michael have delivered monologues?

It also doesn’t sound a million miles away from Quentin’s script for NATURAL BORN KILLERS…
