A new take on THE BLOB is forming at Warner Bros. Discovery, and The Wrap reports that David Bruckner (THE RITUAL, THE NIGHT HOUSE, HELLRAISER ’22) is on board to both write and direct the reimagining of the classic horror story.
The Wrap says in their report, “Plot details about the reimagining are being kept under wraps. The original 1958 THE BLOB tells the story of an amorphous alien lifeform that descends upon a rural Pennsylvania town and begins consuming anyone it comes into contact with. The alien, an expanding mass of red gelatinous material, grows as it eats and is strong enough to pull human victims into itself from all directions.”
Following the 1958 original starring Steve McQueen, Chuck Russell directed a gory remake in 1988.
