A shut-in Youtube conspiracy theorist witnesses one of his neighbours seemingly killing a woman. Unwilling to get involved, he soon finds himself stalked by a possible serial killer, and all of his most paranoid fears seem to be coming true.
Grimmfest Says: A darkly funny, tense, surreal spin on REAR WINDOW for the age of the internet incel, this combines a slow-burning psychological thriller with bizarro David Icke style paranoia and a mordant, yet surprisingly sympathetic character study of a fairly unsympathetic, rather wretched character. The protagonist’s various uncomfortable interactions with his mother, the suspected killer who gradually inveigles his way into both of their lives, and the two bullying cops who suspect him of knowing far more than he’ll admit to, gradually reveal a life of quiet desperation; an angry, bitter, thwarted, inadequate man, whose grasp on reality is growing ever more tenuous, as his sense of his own moral failings and weakness becomes increasingly apparent to him. Beautifully played by a strong cast, with a real ear for dialogue and telling character detail, and consistently engaging and surprising in its unexpected shifts in tone and slippery narrative twists, it’s a film that carefully draws you into its protagonist’s life, and his sense of reality, only to blindside you with a truly jaw-dropping, utterly batshit final twist that will leave you wondering just what the hell you just saw. Genuinely offbeat, oddball and unexpected, in all of the best ways, it’s a real head-spinner. Grimmfest is delighted to be presenting the UK Premiere.
