Season 6 of Charlie Brooker’s dark and twisted anthology series recently dropped on Netflix and your friend The Reaper devoured all 5 episodes, I love me some Black Mirror!
So why not time for another patented “__ of the best _____” post, with this one being 5 of the best Black Mirror episodes…
As always this is subjective! Just one undead skeleton’s opinion and in no particular order…
3 mini-stories wrapped up in one overarching story as Rolo Haynes shows Nish around the eponymous desert attraction, revealing the tales of a pain-addicted doctor, a little voice in your head, and a prisoner who ends up reliving his execution over and over again. The heat is cranked up as the real reason for Nish’s visit slowly comes to light.
Rafe Spall and Jon Hamm hang out in a cabin trading stories as snow falls outside, and as Rafe spills his awful, awful truth you find out what’s really happening and discover that you’ll never hear “I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday” the same way ever again..
Jesse Plemons is on blistering form as socially awkward Robert who creates copies of his co-workers for his own Star Trek fantasy, but a new arrival doesn’t take kindly to her new reality..
This one hits like a freight train. Wyatt Russell (giving serious young Kurt vibes!) is travelling, avoiding his mum’s calls and wants to earn some quick money testing out a new VR game. Little does he know.
Starting with the familiar “waking up with amnesia” plot point, this one twists and turns its way to a shocking, disturbing and gut-wrenching ending. Confetti shotguns for all!
Honourable mentions for San Junipero, Nosedive, Shut Up and Dance and about 20 more.
Agree? Disagree? You know where to find me!
