After appearing in BLACK CHRISTMAS, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET and A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3 John Saxon wrote an insane-sounding treatment for a proposed prequel which would feature his character Donald Thompson as the lead.
How the Nightmare on Elm Street All Began (working title right?) charts the fateful events leading up to Thompson and the parents of Springwood turning vigilante and executing accused child killer Fred Krueger, leading to his ultimate resurrection as the dream demon who stalks his killers’ children in their nightmares.
So far, so very prequel right?
Well, Saxon has Fred Krueger as a fully-fleshed out character who is completely innocent of the crimes he’s accused of, and he throws in some killer Manson cultists too!
