After our amazing Guillermo Del Toro All-Dayer we are very excited to return to Stockport Plaza Cinema for another very special event. We are proud to announce the next of these events, taking place on 19th August, supported by the lovely chaps at Horror Channel, is a sequel to our hugely successful 2014 season dedicated to the horror master John Carpenter! This time around we’re switching the format to an all-dayer marathon and focusing on some of Carpenter’s movies that may not have been as huge as his Kurt Russell collaborations and the like, but are definitely amazing pieces of cult cinema nonetheless!

About the venue:
Stockport Plaza is an astonishing 1314 capacity art deco cinema and theatre dating back to 1932, it is one of the last remaining ‘super cinemas’ remaining in the country and is a sight to behold. The cinema underwent a significant restoration at the turn of the millennium and is now back to its former glory with its huge screen, 35mm and more film projectors, beautiful auditorium surroundings and an original Compton Theatre Organ!

JOHN CARPENTER SEASON 2: THE ALL-DAYER LINE UP
Police ambush and kill several gang members in Los Angeles. Gang members make a pact of blood to strike back at police, and conduct a siege on the police station which is almost abandoned and due to be closed. Staff of the closing precinct and the criminals being held there while in transit must work together to fight off the attacking gang members.
A sinister secret has been kept in the basement of an abandoned Los Angeles church for many years. With the death of a priest belonging to a mysterious sect, another priest opens the door to the basement and discovers a vat containing a green liquid. The priest contacts a group of physics graduate students to investigate it. Unfortunately, they discover that the liquid contains the essence of Satan himself, and they also discover that he will release HIS father – an all-powerful Anti-God! The liquid later comes to life itself, turning some of the students into zombies as the Devil comes forward to release his father. Will these students be able to stop him?
In 1957, in Detroit, a red Plymouth Fury is built and is the cause of two accidents, one of them fatal, still in the assembly line. Twenty-one years later, the outcast and bullied nerd Arnold “Arnie” Cunningham is getting a ride with his best and only friend Dennis Guilder and he sees the wrecked car for sale in a garden. Arnie immediately falls in love with the car. The car was given the name Christine by it’s first owner. He brings the car to a repair shop of the despicable Will Darnell and works hard to restore the classic car. While he works in the restoration, he changes his personality to a cocky teenager and he dates the most beautiful girl in the high-school, Leigh Cabot. Soon Arnie becomes selfish and jealous of the supernatural Christine that kills everyone that is a threat to them.
As the centennial of the small town of Antonio Bay, California approaches, paranormal activity begins to occur at midnight. 100 years ago, the wealthy leper Blake bought the clipper ship Elizabeth Dane and sailed with his people to form a leper colony. However, while sailing through a thick fog, they were deliberately misguided by a campfire onshore, steering the course of the ship toward the light and crashing it against the rocks. While the town’s residents prepare to celebrate, the victims of this heinous crime that the town’s founders committed rise from the sea to claim retribution. Under cover of the ominous glowing fog, they carry out their vicious attacks, searching for what is rightly theirs.
