The Bastard Love Child Of…Solaris and Logan’s Run!
The Future. In an over-populated city ruled over by a sinister totalitarian leadership, people are forced to live in shifts – some by day, some by night. A synthetic enzyme in their bodies prevents them from ever changing their shift – and if they do so, they die.
Families do not exist – children are assigned the opposite shift to their natural parents. The state is all. Then one woman doctor makes a bid for freedom and family…
Grimm’s Eye View: Exploring themes of alienation, family versus state, individual freedom, this haunting and poetic film with its elegantly retro production design recalls the classic cerebral Science Fiction movies of the early 1970s.
Thought-provoking, filled with emotional and intellectual resonance, and carrying a powerful and all-too-relevant political message, it‘s the kind of mind-expanding SF that we thought had disappeared in a welter of exploding space ships following the successful Space Operatics of Star Wars. We’re happy to be proved wrong.
